Day in Life of Leslie Sedille – A Family Liaison

Day in Life of Leslie Sedille, Family Caregiver

Each day starts with a connection. In the morning, I talk to families. I don’t just hear them, I listen. Families often come to us feeling worried or unsure. They may not know what to expect from home care or how to get started. I take the time to understand what they need and what they are feeling.

My job is to help guide them through the home care process. I explain how our services work, answer their questions, and give them support. Sometimes they are new to caregiving. Other times they are just tired and need help. I want every person I speak with to feel supported and not alone. I want them to know we are here for them and their loved ones.

“Every day starts with listening because understanding a family’s story is the first step to creating care that truly fits.”

– Leslie Sedille

This idea stays with me all day. After the morning calls, I meet with our team. I talk with our owner and scheduler to stay updated on client needs. We make sure each person is getting the right care at the right time. If something has changed, we adjust the schedule. We try to keep everything running smoothly.

Sometimes I call families again later in the day. Maybe their loved one came home from the hospital and needs more help. Maybe a caregiver noticed something different, like a change in mood or health. Or maybe the family just has more questions. I make sure they get answers. I try to ease their worries.

If they are missing something important like a ride to the doctor, a wheelchair, or help with meals, I help them find the right resources. I know that even one small problem can feel like too much when someone is already stressed. That’s why I try to make things a little easier, one step at a time.

Every family is different. Some need a lot of care. Some just need someone to check in once in a while. No matter what, I want them to feel like they are not alone. I want them to know they can trust us to help them and care for their loved one.

At the end of the day, I feel proud of the work we do. Home care is not just about tasks or schedules. It is about people. It is about building trust and helping families feel supported. It starts with listening, and it continues with care.

If I can make one family’s day a little easier, I know I’ve done something good. That is why I show up every day with a kind heart and open ears.
