Home care caregivers are often the first members of the care team to notice changes in a participant’s health. Recognizing these changes early and responding appropriately helps reduce disease transmission and supports timely medical evaluation.
In this 30-minute Florida-specific course, you’ll learn how communicable diseases spread, recognize signs and symptoms that require attention, and understand the caregiver’s role in supporting Florida’s communicable disease reporting process. You’ll also learn how the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) oversees communicable disease surveillance, when to notify your supervisor, and how to document observations accurately while remaining within your scope of practice.
The course also reviews Standard Precautions, confidentiality, personal protective equipment (PPE), and exposure reporting to help caregivers provide safe, compliant, and person-centered care throughout Florida.
