HCBS Rights, Community Integration & Person-Centered  Supports (National)

This 60-minute course provides an overview of the CMS HCBS Settings Final Rule and the person-centered principles that guide Medicaid-funded home and community-based services.

HCBS serves a diverse population, including older adults and people with physical, intellectual, developmental, and other disabilities. The rule helps ensure that people receiving these services have meaningful opportunities to make decisions, exercise their rights, participate in community life, pursue employment or other personal goals, and receive support in ways that promote autonomy and self-determination.

Learners will explore how to support informed choice, dignity of risk, privacy, autonomy, visitor rights, freedom from coercion, and meaningful community participation while addressing health and safety needs through individualized, person-centered support.
