Home care caregivers are often the first to notice changes in a participant’s health. Recognizing these changes early and responding appropriately helps protect participants, caregivers, families, and the community from the spread of communicable diseases.
This 30-minute California-specific course explains how communicable diseases spread, how caregivers can recognize signs and symptoms requiring attention, and the important role caregivers play in reporting concerns through established agency procedures. You’ll also learn California’s communicable disease reporting framework, understand how the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and local health departments support disease surveillance, and clarify the caregiver’s role within that system.
The course also covers objective documentation, confidentiality, Standard Precautions, appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and exposure reporting to help caregivers provide safe, compliant, and person-centered care throughout California.
